Length. The length of a post should be only between 400 and 800 words. Shorter and it will seem too shallow. Longer and readers won’t have the time. Be selective and only cover as much of a topic as will fit into 600 words.
Tone. You should write these articles in conversational style. The most important part is the title. Make it something that piques the member’s interest.
Topics. Look at your areas of expertise and select the specific topic yourself. Only cover a part of your topic that can be addressed in 400 to 600 words.
Submissions. All blog posts should be reviewed by AAO legal counsel before publication. You can submit blog posts to Burt Bollinger, who will then share the posts with Kevin Dillard.
Remember that we have to be careful about not making product reviews. It is OK to discuss a technology, but be careful not to endorse or slam any particular product. For example, you can use “flat, thin, beautiful, amazing tablet PC,” but don’t mention iPad!
Member Responses to Blog posts: Burt Bollinger will forward member responses that are posted to the Tech Talk blog. If you feel that a response is warranted, please make a concerted effort to post your response within a 24-hour timeframe.
